what is the best set up for shooting a christening in a church its fairly well lit i have a sony 300 with 18-70 and sony 28-300 lenses i have a mono pod and i dont wont to use flash your wisdom is much appreciated and thanks in advance paul
LoGillParticipantCouple of quick things
Aim to use your lenses at their fastest – (bear in mind depth of field) – The best zoom you have is your two feet. – move to get closer when you need to rather than zoom. Invest in a reflector if you don’t want to use flash .. Look for white walls or any large bright surface you can use to reflect/ bounce light… try and plan a few shots that you want in advance – in terms of angle and distance etc..
Enjoy !!

what iso shutter speed etc thanks
ok – I don’t want to sound unhelpful and its hard to know what you do or don’t understand based on your reply – but IMO you need to understand what the decision you are making with your camera settings in terms of exposure and the impact/ effect of those choices – Yes higher ISO will allow you to shoot in low light conditions but you may have the issue of noise(graininess) in your photos – not ideal for baby shots:) different cameras have different tolerences for this in terms of quality .
If you shoot on shutter priority – keep it over 125 and watch your aperture – the effect of aperture is Depth of Field – (wider aperture (lower number) allows more light but = shallow depth of field (blurry background) .. higher Aperture (higher number) less light wider depfth of field .)
Good luck with it !
LGCPParticipantDepends on what you wnat in the end really. Can you give us an idea of how you want the pics to look?
marble masterParticipantthanks for the replies i went out and shelled out on a flash today so i will go to the church before hand and mess around to get the desired pictures thanks again for your replies
