I really quite like that-
quite an antique look to it, helped by the tone, the haircut, the clothing,
and the long lens throwing the background out of focus too.
I might have a look at taking something off the top- the frame, not the hair-
The tone is quite dark-
most people will tell you that you should lighten it, give it more punch, or snap, or pop, or whatever-
but as I said, I quite like it-
a darker mount rather than the white of the page here would help-
I especially like the way the head is almost framed by the light foliage in the background, creating a kinda natural vignette-
I like the expression…. its worried and a little old for a child – the clothing and hair do gi=ve it a vintage feel .. and I agree with JB on the crop ..
beyoned that I’m definately one of the peope who will tell you this is too grey .. even on a black mount this image is going to look grey as aopposed to black and white .. I like darker conversions and you shoud keep that but it needs a bit of punch, snap, pop, umph or whatever you want to call. You don’t have to go for a high contrast but you should do a little work
