Clare Glens – First Long Exposure Attempt
-
GfoxParticipant
Would love to get some C & C on my first attempts on long exposure with water up at the Clare Glens between Tipperary and Limerick. Its an amazing place, lovely locations up there. All feedback is welcome as its my first attempt and want to learn from here. Have a look at my flickr for the rest of the series..
1.
2.
3.
andy mcinroyParticipantOh yes, number 2 and 3 for me.
The first perhaps has just a little too much in it. But the other two are very nicely composed.
Great job, especially for a first attempt. Those highlights look perfectly controlled.
Andy
PixelleMemberWhat a beautiful place, and what lovely photographs.
Er..where exactly did you say it was??AliParticipantComposition in all three is excellent :) Cracking results. I think i’ll go for #1 – I prefer that little bit of extra space infront of the waterfall.
GfoxParticipanthey thanks all for the great feedback!!! Its excellent to hear. Sometimes you wonder if your making any progress at all.. Gonna try process them into B & W and see how it goes..
p & s.. Confusingly its called the Clare Glens, located on the border between Tipperary and Limerick. Called the Clare Glens because its the clare river running through it. Its a fantastic place. Lots of waterfalls and greenery..
RavenAshMemberossie13ParticipantLucParticipantI am not an expert in this technique, so I will not be able to give you any interesting advices.
But I really like number 2, the water effect is very nice and the compo looks good.Stephen ByMemberNice one GFox another location for my list . Your pics are stunning No. 3 does it for me I like the detailed foreground.
Well Done.mgstParticipantRobertoMemberThe composition of #2 and 3 is very good.
#1 would be interesting if you get only the oposite part of the rocks and shoot from the water level….. IMOPixelleMemberGfox, I see someone has a photograph of the Clare waterfall on Google Earth, just south of Newport. I wonder if it is the same place?
HelenParticipantGfox
I had planned to go to Clare Glens myself to take some photos so you beat me to it. I live not far from there and I really love going there but since our Springer Spaniel died haven’t had the hear to go there as he loved it.
Lovely pictures and well done.
Helen
GfoxParticipanthey all
I am extremely grateful for everyone taking the time to reply and give me such fantastic feedback. Its very encouraging.p & s, Yep that would be the same place. Its only a couple of miles outside newport.
Its the type of place you could keep going there and get different shots each time. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
helen, sorry to hear that. Try have a visit before summer ends. Its lovely at the moment.
One word of caution about the Clare Glens.. A number of cars have been broken into there recently. I was chatting a lovely old lady who let me park in here driveway as two cars had just been broken into as I arrived. If you are heading up, park in the lower car park which is close to two houses before you cross the bridge.. Dont let this put you off going there tho!
Wolfy2k4MemberI’ve take a few long exposures but they’re not a patch on these. The colours, the composition, the sharpness, all fantastic. #2 would be my favourite by the way. :)
