Close up Lens

For any normal person the ebay pack shot will take maybe 30 seconds,
and they get to sell their kit.

Me, I’ll probably be photographing this thing this time next year,
and the processing will probably never be totally sorted out.

where did it all go wrong?

I’ve had this lens for sale for a day,
    over in the classifieds section,
    and nobody’s bought it yet.

So it needs an advertising picture
    to make it sell tomorrow,
thats the power of photography, right?

Obviously I can’t retouch the picture for an ad like this,
though as you all know, those tiny specks of dust trapped between the elements
will not degrade the image quality at all.
In fact, they might even improve it-

Does it come from a non-smoking household?

    Is it auto-focus?

How much to ship it to Kuala Lumpur?

    Does it have fun, Gus?

Try to answer all questions up-front in your description :)

And, as it’s in a critique forum… I don’t like the 360 degree drop shadow much.

Edit – one, no two more-

    Thanks Pete,
    for your thoughts,
wow, you really do look like your avatar, don’t you :D

I would probably agree with you about the ‘drop shadow’
it is just a touch too distinct- and I will watch out for it the next time I experiment with ‘frames’.-
Which I’ve only recently started doing.

So I’m surprised you didn’t notice the fingerprints below the signature on the rim,
and maybe the whole thing could have been cleaner and the composition and
the lighting, loks a bit dull, with all those reflective surfaces, it could look like anything, really-

If I was to be up front in the description, that is- :D

This one from earlier in the same session,
    different camera-

This one shows a nasty little scratch,
    one of two scratches
    which deny this lens
    a mint++

Not sure what the gig is here, are you trying to sell the pic, or the lens?
If the pic, depth of field is a problem, if the lens, I think you have an ageist issue, i.e.,
my grandad used to have one of those.
Would make a nice paper weight.
    Give you ?2.50.

Would it fit my Technika III I wonder?
Maybe I should get my leaky bellows fixed first!

Hi, sorry for the late reply,
Basontor, your grandad was a very discerning photographer,
hopefully he’s managed to hide his optics,
to save them from becoming designer trinkets-

I’m flattered that you’ve decided to pop your posting cherry with your comments on my pictures,
but while I appreciate your offer,
you might need to save up your pocket money for a little while longer.

Fintan, I believe you can get a paste to (temporarily) repair leaky bellows,
though its obviously not the best solution-
The lens comes on a Technika sized board,
    but is not Linhof badged-
I reckon it would slot straight in.
It covers 5×4, but with limited movements.

Go on, you know you want to-

    :D
