    I don’t have a problem with blown highlights unless they distract me away from the important elements. Unfortunately in this case they do distract and I am immediately drawn to them. I can see that you have tried to compensate by underexposing the rest of the scene but by doing this the blue sky behind has gone a murky cyan. This is one of the big problems with digital. With slide film the highlights may have just about been saved by the exposure roll off. Digital just hits a hard stop, even with RAW, and thats that.

    I really like the small patch of light in front of the large island and if I was in your position I would have pulled out the telephoto and concentrated on this region. You could try a severe crop but suspect that you wouldn’t get much of a print from it.

    IF you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
    If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
    Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
    And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

    Thanks Andy and Pete for the comments.
    I know that this photo is not good as photograph but somehow I like it as picture.
    Only what I don’t like is the white hole in the cloud.
