Coffee with Milk

Interesting picture, but I think the backround is a little too busy and the second cup of coffee is a bit of a distraction. Nevertheless, it’s an image that attracts the attention and definitely doesn’t elicit a “so what?” response. I like how the cigarette points almost agressively at the viewer.

5faytheParticipantHi labux63,
I think it’s an interesting picture too.
It’s more than a snapshot as it looks to me that a certain amount of setting up took place.
Black coffee/dark biscuit ….
And the look. The 2nd cup adds a little intrigue for me.
Who is it for?Processing wise the eye area looks a bit dark to me.
Well done.
John.
labux63ParticipantHey lads!
Thanks for the comments.
I will try to explain my point of view on the image. “Coffee with Milk” Black coffee, black biscuit. White milk, white biscuit. This is only 50% portrait. The other 50% is art. The whole idea in the image is to divide it into 2 sides, white side and black side.
Black coffee-Milk. Black biscuit-White biscuit. White cigarette- Black ashes. Black and white image, etc. It’s my concept of philosophy of life.
It’s a balance between positive and negative.PixelleMemberPlus the teaser that the lady is holding the black coffee cup, yet the pic is titled coffee with milk…
AlessiaParticipantlike it very much…. it remember me of the tea party in Alice in wonderland: don’t know why!!! maybe the sense of perspective gives a “odd” but very intriguing effect, very movie-like. Regarding the “philosophy” beyond the picture… great and easily understandable!
miki gParticipantI copped the B/W connection when viewing this, so that part of it works well. The second cup however (the white), is not IMO in the best place to suggest a second person being in the room and the handle of the cup reinforces this as it gives it “a prop” look, as the lady is reaching for the furthest cup (just looks strange). The cigarette in the shot wouldn’t appeal to me either (even though I am a smoker), but this could be just a thing about smoking & food(?). I also find the background distracting and busy. These are only my opinions though, as I feel that it has the appearance of a staged shot trying to look casual and should not take away from what is probably a successful artistic shot (of which I know nothing of course). Well done
