Colour Space Issues

Here’s my problem. I shoot in SRGB, I then edit in SRGB in photoshop but then when I save the image as a SRGB jpeg the picture loses all life. The contrast and colours are completely destroyed. I know if you view an SRGB image within an Adobe RGB 1998 environment it will look dull. But considering that i am editing in SRGB shouldn’t it look the same when I open it? I’m running windows 7 and the colour space is SRGB.

Any help will be very much appreciated. I’m making myself confused just thinking about it.

    are you shooting raw?
if you are the colourspace is not connected till you import using camera raw etc

i assume you have your monitor calibrated.

are you colour settings in photoshop set to sRGB?

where are you seeing the change in contrast and colour, ie is it from your camera screen and computer screen? or screen and print?

where are you opening it and seeing the change, in a browser? if so which browser. and does the browser support colour management, also where is it being hosted.

what kind of file are you saving and opening to see the change?

I figured it out thanks to you stcstc. I wasn’t selecting SRGB as I brought it in through camera raw.

    Thank you very much :D
