Surely you could have achieved more natural skin tone? The skin tones in the picture make her look decidedly unwell imho. Unfortunately I would have to say ‘back to the drawing board’ with this one – I don’t care for the current composition, I feel it is somewhere between a head shot and a 3/4 shot, with distracting elements such as the back of the chair. Eye contact and a close crop on the head and hair would have improved it substantially. But you really need to get those skin tones looking natural or else everything fails. :(

In case you dont know how to do this, you can use a gray card and include it in your photo, or use something like the expodisc. Or set a custom white balance in your camera by taking a photo of the white background using your studio lights. With the grey card method, you use lightroom or Photoshop to click on the gey card with the white balance tool, and then apply this to all your photos taken in the same lighting. Hope this helps.paulbmcvParticipantgents thank you for the comments, it has made me look at the picture more. Rossco, many thanks for the White card tip. P
PeteTheBlokeMemberWhy has this image disappeared? There seems to be a bit of a
trend for disappearing pictures in “People” lately (MPs I think the polis call them).
I can understand it when the thread is a year or more old (though I
still deplore the practice) but it seems bad mannered to make critics’ feedback
irrelevant within days of it going up. In Brandyman’s case, he’s hoist by
his own petard, somewhat, but all my pictures are extant as far as I know.MartinOCParticipantWhat I would suggest, if after posting and comments you decide a picture is not your best and you wish keep flickr as a gallery of good shots..
put the photo in you personal gallery here (or a hosting site like postimage.org) and edit the link, that’s what I do.Martin
dave100ParticipantpaulbmcvParticipantMartin OC many thanks for the tip. I had uploaded a large image to flicker and with limited space decided to remove, to allow other images to be stored. Will do as you suggest and repost to gallery. PBM
