    Common Darter Dragonfly:

    Just learning to shoot macro. Shot handheld at ISO200 F8 with a Sigma 70-300 APO Super Macro II. Would have preferred ISO 100 and should have used a tripod. Would have liked more DOF.

    Hey Joe, Great start to your macro photography. :) I’ve never shot macro (some day soon).
    You seem to be working with very harsh light which is leaving a few blown highlights and very little
    detail in the Dragon Flys body. I agree, more depth of field would be nice. But your point of focus seems
    to be spot on.

    Thanks Ali. I had the worst luck with light yesterday. Up at 05:00 to go up to Glendalough. It was a clear sky when I left the house and then when I arrived in the mountains I was surrounded by mist and clouds. I stayed up there till 2pm and returned back down to a bright sunny day. I took the above at around 15:30, the sun splitting the trees.
