depends on what your looking to spend really.
My first was a canon 350D with a 18-55mm lens and it cost me 350euro second hand and it was a great camera.
I saved up and managed to pickup a 550D for 725euro with a kit lens brand new from England. My only issue i’ve had so far was a button stopping working but i had it repaired in under 2 weeks under warranty.
I noticed this Sony A290 Starter Kit the other day when i was looking around for a friend for a DSLR starter kit. I dont know anything about Sony as im a Canon man, but i’ve heard these are quiet good and its a good price for what you get to start with.
If you look second hand you’ll get a nice camera (usually) for cheaper then a new one and you might get some kit with it to :)pelagicMembergiblin99 wrote:
cheers :) some nice shots you have there :) so ive been doing more hunting and found the sony A290, nikon D3000 and canon EOS 1000D…all come with 18-55mm lense and around the same price, could anyone advise which would be the best option to buy? thanks :D
Those are nice cameras, but if you are going to spend that much, get the D3100 which replaces the D3000. Right now Nikon and retailers are dumping D3000’s but the 3100 is a much better camera.
giblin99Participanthmm well the d3000 is €407…while the d3100 is €596 …nearly €200 at the end of the day, is it really worth that much extra? if so what about the d5000 because its cheaper than the d3100
pelagicMemberTwo different cameras. Both will take great photos. But they will feel quite different in your hands. Either D5000 or D3100 is better than D3000. Some say the D3100 is what the D3000 was meant to be.
Have you found any of the older entry level Canons or Nikons. Canon 300, 350, 400 Nikon 70, 50, 60
giblin99Participantnot yet but il keep looking, the 3 i mentioned earlier are around €400 which is kinda the money id like to stick at considering iv just lost my job and have other bills too, as katiem mentioned earlier the pentax kx is also in dat range too, i think maybe 4 now il go with 1 of these to get me started and see how things go 4 me from there :D
pelagicMembera camera in hand, and within budget, is always takes better photos than the one you don’t/can’t have.
Will you be posting soon?
You will find there are free programs for cropping, straightening, red-eye removal and some color balancing. That’s all you need to get started. Here’s one: http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
giblin99Participantthanks :) and cheers 4 the advice too it means alot when your in my position having little knowledge of photography, im hoping to get a camera as soon as possible after christmas :D il get posting as soon as possible, thanks again :D
pelagicMemberBTW – It helps if you add your location and real name to your profile. It’s nice to where someone is and to use their real first name.
