Now, I could be wrong on this but this same theory was mentioned to me recently. Hands up who is still using XP and thinks it’s gone slow recently.

I noticed this at home some weeks ago. I open up the laptop and after logging on it sits there…for quite a while. The HD indicator is full on. Ctrl-Alt-Delete to find out what process is hogging the system and it’s the “System Idle Process”…which tells me the system is idle. Over the last few weeks there have been very regular updates from Microsoft. Recently my desktop PC has been doing the same thing and now my work PC. All of which receive and accept updates.

Now, does anyone else find this peculiar, particularly as Windows 7 is about to be launched and MS have long awaited to drop XP? Let the debate begin.

    Alan.

PS – We know Macs don’t use XP and they’re the best thing since the pyramids.

I wouldn’t be surprised, sure it’s like a very well known anti virus software company were found to have inserted a virus into their own software which just happened to affect your pc a month before your subscription was due to run out.

Wonka, you do realise that the 1 common demoninator with all 3 machines is you…. maybe its you who are getting slower

Well, if my machines were getting slower, wouldn’t that mean I’m getting faster??

This was verified by our IT guy – he thought so too (the theory, not I’m getting any slower/faster).

Exactly the reason I don’t have automatic updates switched on for any computer/server on my network. I run them manually when the time comes, that way you know exactly what has been installed, when it has been installed and what to roll back
