I was out for a drive in the Wicklow mountains just before sunset last weekend and saw a small herd of deer. By the time i found a gap in the roadside to park, and got into the field, the deer had moved down the hill, and i just couldnt get close enough for any decent shots.
Luckily the resident horse of the field was happy to oblige. Not sure if he was surveying the land or just deep in thought contemplating some matter of great importance to horses, but he looked very contemplative.
Ive played a lot with the crop, framing using the trees and the white balance to get as close to the warm sunset colors that were there at the time & ive had to stop looking at it as im at a point where im no longer objective, and il probably end up messing it up if i keep tweaking it.
The problem to my eye is that the background lacks any contrast so that the eye is inclined to be drawn to the horse. Perhaps if the horse was larger in the photo your picture would have more impact.
