Coot Parent and Nest

Shes not really a mystery bird, but Im not sure what they are, my knowledge of birds is a little rusty. I found her on the bank of a lake in Holland. I only had my 50mm and I had to get in close. I stayed low to the ground, almost crawling so not to scare her. When I knelt up to take the shot she moved back a bit, showing me the eggs in the nest. This is a crop of the original image.
