    A question for you.

If you were to recreate scenes from a film on photographs and portray them publically, would you have to obtain permission from the film company even though you arent using original stills but making your own recreations??????????

The camera club I was in did this once as a project. However, that was purely for amateur, non-commercial use and as such could be deemed as “fair-use” in the context of copyright law. I’m no expert on copyright law, but have read up quite a bit on it and as far as I’m aware, it makes no difference if you copy an image by making a direct copy of it or by re-creating a photograph of it yourself, the original creator is entitled to claim breach of copyright. I’m not sure what the situation is in relation to taking a scene from a film and recreating that photographically but I’m sure that with the introduction of HDV, this will become a big issue in the future (HDV=High Definition Video).

Would be very interested in hearing the opinion of others.
