Hi i know this should be obvious but how do you get the copyright symbol on a PC?
John.
FintanParticipantThorstenMemberIf, for some bizarre reason Alt-0169 doesn’t work for you, you can use the Windows Character Map – go to Start > Run and type “charmap” (without the quotes) and click on OK. This gives you access to a whole range of special characters and their associated keycodes or you can just copy and paste from the Character Map, if the keycode doesn’t work.
Useful ones I use are ? (Alt-0174), Degree Sign ? (Alt-0176), ? (Alt-0189) and even ? (Alt-0128).
wjklewisMemberThanks Guys I kenw it was simple, just have to ask the right people!!
Regards John.

* assumes the reader is using a computer running the Windoze operating system!
wjklewisMemberOk another one I have always wondered about what does Alt Gr stand for????
John
PixelleMemberIBM states that AltGr is an abbreviation for “alternate graphic”
from WikipediaNot Pete the blokeParticipantnothing is happening for me – so let me spell it out? I press Alt, then dash, then 0, then 1, then 6 then 9, and the copyright symbol is supposed to appear?
‘Alt’ seems to highlight the ‘file’ menu in Word for me, and nothing else happens???

Hey Brandyman… you need to hold ALT, and key in 0169 using the Number Pad (right hand side) on the keyboard, then release ALT… there is no dash (-), and wont work using the numbers along the top of your keyboard…
Also… your “Num Lock” must be on for this to work….
If you’re using a laptop… you might need to use the function (FN) key or FN lock. The charmap will work on Windows laptop’s too…
And if it’s just Word and Excel you’re doing it in… you can choose “Insert -> Symbol” and it will give you a dialog box of common symbols including the ? symbol…
Oh and for a MAC it’s the “OPTION” (key) and “G”…!
Hope it works for ya ;)
Not Pete the blokeParticipantThanks Jay – got it to work! But I definitely needed the precise instructions, as I always type numbers from the top of the keyboard.

dude thats just plain weird  only jokin
to do it is to type (c) in word. It automatically replaces this with the copyright symbol – then just cut and paste.

Well, my answer was specifically directed at the OP who reffered to a PC. A PC is generally accepted to be a computer running the Windows OS as distinct from a machine running Mac OS-X which is typically referred to as a MAC.
