The Animal Care Society of Cork which I volunteer for held a fashion show in the Maryborough hotel in Cork City on the 14th of May to raise awareness and money. My fiancee poked me to go along to grab a few shots. I’d never taken shots of people before, and, spending weeks reading up on things before the event has opened my eyes to a whole new world of photography as I stumbled upon the strobist website and am looking forward to getting shots in that direction.
Anyway, so this was my first fashion event. I felt absolutely and utterly out of place and nervous. As an a beginner I rarely critique people because I feel way out of my league. So maybe some people here can critique me and point out where I can improve. (and then can maybe critique others :))
You did manage to expose correctly all of them. The one thing I always check when it comes to cat-walks is the sharpness and the skin texture. I found (after kazillion of mistakes) that shooting at f/2.8 on a 200mm does not help at all. You work with a very shallow depth of field and it will be very hard to get the entire model in focus. I really like the way you exposed them. The skin is bang on and white balance also.
