Out for a ramble today around Kells, spotted this fellah scavenging chips
outside the Tower Grill. Sunday Dinner.ExpresbroParticipantThat’s a great capture Rob…nice composition..though I think personally I’d lose a little from the top. You’ve really caught him well in this shot…love the stance and the detail.
LoGillParticipantWhy is it that I think Crows have a comical personality.. they just look so cross and crusty all the time..
Lovely shot Rob, Its almost monotone… loads of feather detail and I like the fading depth of field .. and , you caught a twinkle in his eye ;)

RobMemberCheers for the comments folks. Must admit I was rather chuffed with this
one myself. Never realised I’d exposed it so well until I put it on my laptop
and saw all the detail. Hopefully it will print well too…Rob.
jb7ParticipantIs it true that the Monarchy will fall if the Ravens leave the Tower Grill-
Seem to remember hearing something like that once-j

Rob.
RodcunhaParticipantVery nice shot Rob, love the sharpness and the shallow DoF in this…
Regards,
Rod
joe_elwayParticipantPlenty of detail, sharpness and character in this one.
Re the Tower of London … aye. They clip the wings of some Ravens to keep them there AFAIK.

Perhaps one of you ornithusiasts out there might be good enough
at some stage in the future to post up separate images of Rooks, Crows
and Ravens – and other corvids for that matter – to help Philistines like
myself properly identify these murderous flyers…Rob.
joe_elwayParticipantThere’s links at the bottom of this page to the different types:
http://www.rspb.org.uk/birds/guide/c/carrioncrow/index.aspThe most common I see about are the Rook (big fella, greyish part on the upper bill) and the Jackdaw (two tone black and vivid eyes). Hooded crow is easy … grey body with black head.
