This was taken using Kodak HIE B&W film and handprinted.

really nice atmosphere to this image and normally whereas you would normally be trying to eliminate noise from an image Ithink in this case it adds to the overall effect. If I was hypercritical I would say that perhaps it is cropped a little too tight on the bottom a little more space at the foot of the headstones would improve the composition. Fine shot none the less.

It has an infrared look to it, very nice.

hi John, thanks for your comments. As a film worker I’m guessing what you refer to as ‘noise ‘ I would consider to be grain. This is a particular characteristic of infrared film that it’s users strive to exploit. This film is no longer available and is greatly missed by its users. The few rolls that I have left are now long out of date , but I continue to use it for its particular properties that I love.
    Thanks again John.

    Cheers

Hi Jenny, well spotted regarding the infrared. The film to give it its full title is : Kodak Professional High Speed Infrared Film HIE. It is generally referred to as Kodak HIE. Thanks for your comment, glad that you liked it.

This is very nice Vincent. The sky is perfect. Any clouds would distract a bit. I get a nice feeling of exploring on a fine summers day helped by how you positioned the left headstone as if you were reading it just then. I dont know where the church is but everything is leaning to the right and being cropped that way suggests more on the right. Its really good that I dont need to see any more (if you know what I mean).. The suggestion is enough. The more I look at this the more there is to see. Really fine image.

    Hi Wesley,
Thank you very much for your considered critique, it’s obvious that you regard composition as the most important element in your approach to photography.
I’ll be sure to check out your website to see your B&W work.
    Thanks again.
    cheers

    Hi Vincent,
I have come to realise that capturing good light is not always enough so I have started to take my time a bit more lately. Trying to see rather than just look at I suppose it is.
    Cheers
