Hi, I’m new to the site but just thought I’d post up a couple of my favourite pictures over the last few years

All feedback, positive and negative, is very welcome :)

Hi Mark. Nice to see some new faces posting images enthusiastically.
I hope you get some more feedback.

Number 1 looks grossly over-exposed. Sorry to be blunt, but ask yourself
if this photo actually looks like the scene you saw.

Number 3 is promising. You’ll normally get a good reception here with
sunset/water shots. You’ve changed the template a bit by using skyscrapers
instead of rocks, but it still has potential. It looks like there’s
a bit of over-sharpening where the sky meets the skyline. This results in
the sketchy pixels that you’ll see if you look closely. This is an artefact of
processing (either in camera or on the computer, but I don’t know what
    your camera is).

No. 2 is the pick of the bunch. It looks correctly exposed and has plenty of
detail. This is the starting point for any good photograph. The composition
may have been improved if the wave didn’t go straight up the middle of the
photo because it is not as pleasing to the eye as a line that leads in on a
diagonal. That’s just being picky, though, and this is a nice photo.

    Hi Mark
Welcome to PI and its good to see new images being posted.
I agree on point 1, does look overexposed, maybe it was the rolling fog that threw off the meter?
Pick of the bunch is last shot for me, personally taking off some of the top dead sky works better and brings the skyline onto the top third instead of dead centre.
    Cheers and goodluck

Thanks for the feedback PeteTheBloke and Deebo!

I appreciate the bluntness, that’s exactly what i was after :)

Picture 1 was taken in dense fog facing the sun, i thought the fog set it off nicely but i agree it does look overexposed, I’ll have to book a plane back over to have another shot at it

thanks for the tips and pointers!

    Hi Mark,

    Again welcome to the site.

You mentioned that these were some of your favourite images and
    that is important.

You could probably improve #1 by cropping out some of what looks
like white sky (we know it is fog) to just above the middle lamp post.

    Keep the images coming.

    Cheers,

    John.
