Excellent subject! for that alone this is awesome. ive never viewed a cuckoo outside of a book, and your photos give a “real life” representation of what they look like. thanks.
I wonder if they mistook it for a Sparrowhawk. I think I saw it on a Attenborough show on the Cuckoo that is was so similar that others would mistake it.
Thanks for the feedback. The quality isn’t great these are fairly big crops. There are a number of birds of prey in this area and they don’t anything like the abuse the cuckoos get and it is only from pipits. Cuckoos love to parasitise the nest of meadow pipits and I think they know it.
