Curious, What was YOUR first camera and computer?

ciaranParticipantjb7Participant
First real camera was an Olympus OM2 in 1978, followed over the years by many more, OM!, OM!n, OM2n, OM4Ti, maybe about 8 in total.
Still have a couple in working order, and a load of primes, (and a big bag of bits)
must change to Canon soon
:DTried to change to Nikon once, got a F3HP, but everything worked the opposite way from Olympus so I went back.
Before that, I’d always borrowed my dad’s cameras,
starting with a Kodak 620 (1950’s) in 1967
(the first picture I can remember taking, maybe should start a thread of first pictures)
and moving through instamatics,
and a Praktika Super TL.No point in lying about my age anymore, I suppose.
First computer-
a Powerbook 800 Ti.
(I arrived late)
4 anahalf years old, and still going,
though a broken hinge has taken the gloss off it-Superceded earlier this year-

Interesting to know, where we all started from???
My first computer was a Gateway 2000 386 PC but before that I had a loan of a Compaq portable that was the size of a suit case and had two 5 1/2″ floppy drives.
I can half remember my first camera being a Halina 110 camera. I then graduated to a Kodak Disc camera.
PolMacMemberWell, my first camera was a Zenith followed by the Canon AE-1, A1, T90, Contax 137 MA, 167 MT, Yashicamat, TLR, ‘Hassey’ 500CM, GS1 and Nikon 5400
My first computer was an Atari of some sort which I used for writing copy (spell checkers dream), better than the ribbon type writer……
wjklewisMemberHe! He! living in Belfast during the 70s my mother wouldnt have let me have one of those, wonder why. My Zenith b only had a standard lens, but now i have seen the picture I do recall the camera.

SteveFEMemberFirst puter?original Mac LC pizza box with a mighty 16MHz 68020 processor, 4MB RAM and 40MB hard drive (huh, about enough for five 30D raw files now, but back then it was enough to run Illustrator 3.2, Photoshop 2.0 and QuarkXPress 3.1, all of which installed off one or at most two floppies!)
First camera?early 60s Agfa Silette (viewfinder, not rangefinder) with a dinky little Weston meter and bulk-loaded FP4. Spent the next several years unlearning photography, via an OM10 with built-in AP metering (wow!) and zoom lens, then descending further into the mire of p’n’s 35mms, a Fuji 1300 digital p’n’s, before starting the upswing with an S5500 posh compact then the EOS D30 and finally back up to a 30D. Actually, I still own all these cameras even if some of them don’t get a lot of use ;)
RodcunhaParticipantMy first camera was a Yashica, sorry but I don’t remember the model.
My first computer was a Sinclair 48k (think my wrist watch has more processing power now than that had back then).
thomasMemberfirst computer.. a vic 20 early 80’s
first camera .. a nikon f50 late 90’sExpresbroParticipantFirst camera…a little instamatic thing that I used for years…think we still have it in a drawer somewhere…Haminex or something like that..actually still have rols of film that never got developed from it.
First PC was a Gateway 200MMX Pentium 1 which I bought not that long after Win 95 came out. I remember how excited I was when it was delivered…I actually still had it up till last year when I gave it to a friends kid to play around with…was upgrade to Win 98 ..!!
StevieParticipantA kodak 126 instamatic 1970s?
A 286 with a Blue screen – would only run DOS.steelydanParticipantjoolsveerParticipantFor those young ones among us this is a Spectrum with rubbery keys
an Instamatic similar to mine which also used a flashcube.
