D200 and SB600 as wireless slave

Any chance anyone knows how to set the SB600 as a wireless slave to the D200 without having to fire the on-camera flash as a commander flash? (or is its possible)

I have gone through the manual but can’t find the details – perhaps I’m not techie minded enough.

No, you can’t do it. To fire the flash remotely you either need to use a flash cord, the on-camera flash (or SB-800), or the SU-800 on-camera IR trigger (which avoids the visible pre-flashes). I think you can also get triggering devices that use radio waves instead of visible light, but the D200 doesn’t have that capability built in.
