Wondering what recent converters to FF D700 are using as their walkabout lens for general use street, people, landscape etc ?
guthrijParticipantIuse a 17-35 mm 2.8 on my D3 but it is a bit on the bulky size. I have a 50 mm 1.4 and am considering the 35 mm f2 for general walk about.
Cheers, John
CianMcLiamParticipantMost of the time it’s the 17-35 2.8 if I’m out and about in the wilds, anything else it’s the 24-70 2.8. I use the 50mm less and less since the 24-70 seems to do incredibly well in all but near darkness where the extra stop is absolutely necessary, nicer bokeh too.
seanyMemberYeah, I’ve got the 35mm F2 and 24-85mm 2.8-4 D which are easy to carry but am wondering what to get next, there doesn’t appear to be a lot of choice apart from the heavy pro glass and primes which are a bit inconvenient. would welcome any suggestions.
dmgParticipantTamron 28-75 2.8 XR Di is a surprisingly good lens for the price and nice as a walkaround. Nikon 80-200mm 2.8 good fro street and portraits too. 50mm 1.8 when want to travel light.
Harry ReidParticipantHello Seany. How are ye all down in Cork??!! My “go everywhere” lens on the D700 is the Nikon 24-70 2.8. I’m extremely pleased with it and the results, particularly on candids and scapes. Expensive though. Anyway, all the best with the 700…sweet!
Harry.seanyMemberWell I finally decided the D700 merited a pro level lens and managed to get the 24-70mm 2.8 AF-S at a very good price , 25% reduction my problem now is whats the best holster type bag for using on walkabout shooting. Any suggestions guys and gals?
