Daddy Long Legs
-
osheadParticipant
I went looking for Dragonflies and Damselflies in Glendalough last Thursday but the weather was very bad. Light was very dark too. Instead, I found this little critter crawling in the grass beside me. It made the day out worth while. :) Crane Fly (Daddy long legs) – Tipula paludosa. This one is a female I believe.
All shots are taken with the MP-E 65mm with MT24 twinlite flash and Puffer diffusers.

matrusParticipantDavid your photos are great. Are you using extension tube + teleconvertes??
regards
MattDeeboParticipantPeteTheBlokeMemberGreat work David. I think the lighting is better than the last ones I commented on.
DLLs are the strangest creatures when you look at them, aren’t they? I’m sure they
disprove the existence of a god, whilst simultaneously making the theory of evolution
ridiculous.NollaigParticipantLovely photos, you should be really proud of them David.
Mr Pete the Bloke is quite a philosopher!PeteTheBlokeMembergezzaParticipantthese are fantastic. Can i ask do you use manual focus? i find it really difficult to get the focus right with insects. when i see pics like these i want to go out and buy a macro twin flash.
osheadParticipantThanks for the comments guys Deebo and Nollaig.
~Matrus – I’m using the MP-E 65mm lense. It goes up x5 magnification. So no need for tubes.
~PetetheBloke – Well… You’re a funny wannabee. :)
~Gezza – The lense I used (MP-E 65mm) works in manual mode only. These pics are only made possible by the flash. Highly recommended.
