    Nice set of pics Sinead.

Great mood to them and they have a gritty quality.

Just wondering how you managed to take them,

because a lot of performers (think Christy Moore etc)

go mental when anyone moves or makes a sound during

    a song.

Did he notice you taking the shots at all?

    Just wondering. :?

    Thanks George,

I’m not sure if he noticed me or not, probably not, he sings with his eyes closed mostly. lol.
This is a really small venue, 100 people and it’s jammers, so it’s easy to get close.

I did see his manager chasing a few people from the front of the stage a few times though,
no need for that really, think he (the manager) was just being a berk.

I heard that about Christy alright, I’ve never seen him though. I have seen Luka Bloon (his brother)
get a bit huffy though, but he did say sorry later for it.

He came to where i work last year he seemed very nice (very tall as i remember) and there was no problem taking pictures

The golden rule is dont use flash and most acts dont care but its always nice and of course to ask and dont distract the audience.

unlike one berk from a donegal newspaper who got onstage with and act and took flash photos….

I like them sinead they have an intimate quality to me and i could not get a shot of him with his eyes open either :)

I prefer the colour shots and I particularly like the 3rd of these. It works the best for me. The side profile maybe more suited to a singer who keeps his eyes closed….maybe. And also, because he has such an upright stance. The grain of the image, the prominence of beige in the background and his big shirt collar all combine to give the idea of a singer at a ’70s folk club…..which is probably something he would like the idea of.

I would be a bit of a fan, have two of his albums and like them a lot. I haven’t seen him live would you believe since 1996, when he was just starting out. Saw hims 3 or 4 times that year in The D.A. Club, which is gone now. His acoustic version of Dublin Town was the show highlight, but he had a lot of very naive, soppy stuff as well, that he would take a slagging for. He’s still as earnest, but he’s sharpened up a lot also.

Pitmatic – yep, very tall :) This is a really relaxed venue, photography is never an issue, from what I’ve seen anyway. Cheers!

Liam – I hadn’t noticed the 70’s vibe, but now that you mention it, it does look that way. Thanks.
Well, he’s doing a lot of solo gigs at the moment, well worth a trip out to see him. He doesn’t do soppy these days ‘Hold Me’ is about as soppy as it gets,
but, he is very passionate and really gives it everything. Colony still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
