Darn X-ray machines….
-
JohnnyMcMillanParticipant
I need to post a exposed 120 film…(but not developed) across to France to someone…does anyone know would it be affected by any sort of X-rays if I sent it by post???
Merci
davedunneParticipantNot sure about posting but checked luggage is normally good below 800 ISO. The effects are cumulative though so if it is to be posted back unprocessed, that should also be taken into account.
JohnnyMcMillanParticipantYeah just sending roll of 120 exposed to someone to double exposure ontop of in Paris…so seeing what xray’s would be like
PeteTheBlokeMemberAluminium foil must stop some x-rays. Not sure what percentage, though. The scanners at airports are pretty low intensity.

Not sure about foil but you can buy lead bags for putting film through x-ray machines.

They aren’t recommended in the US since they will ensure that the bag will be opened but in Europe they may be useful.

very unlikely to be a problem, is this standard airmail or a courier company?
JohnnyMcMillanParticipantFintanParticipantthen you should be perfectly fine. i know you are just nervous but consider all the film that gets posted in mail order and online sales companies, processing labs etc worldwide,
the reason i ask is i did read on another forum a long time ago about one of the big us companies scanning packages post 9-11. i think you should post your question on apug.org so to get feedback from american based photographers that are more familiar with their postal system. just to be sure
