Just a few shots I took recently of an old run down 2 story house, The colours of the peeling paint were fantastic and have been enhanced to show this.
Thanks for looking C&C welcome Joe
markst33ParticipantI like the effect you have got here. Is this HDR and what did you use to get the effect. ? I like the first and third ones best. However in the last there theres a few blown highlights
DeeboParticipantLovely set of shots. First one is the pick of the bunch, great colours and textures.
Nice work
DeewirepicParticipantI’m a big fan of decaying houses. I like this set. Especially the third, the way the floorboards continue in the second room.
b318ispParticipantMarkKeymasterTo be honest, I think that the colours are over done and are almost taking away
from the scenes themselves. Just personal taste really of course.Other than that I really decay and #1 and 4 are favourites, with perhaps #4 edging it.
Some very nice light on show. Good job.jb7ParticipantWell thank god somebody else said it-
It’s not really a document, it’s an interpretation and an amplification- for effect-That said, I like the colour in the first,
this sort of treatment has its uses,
you could imagine it being a successful background for a drinks ad, or a fashion shot, or a record cover-
but those things seldom fall into the documentary category-Overall, I think the processing is too much, even if they were to be posted in any other section,
but I’m just a fuddy duddy, and nobody takes a blind bit of notice of what I think…PD_BARBSParticipantI actually like this set, even the over processing, but as Mark said that is down to personal tastes.
The first one gets my pick.
thedarkroomParticipantOne and three, I like and I think the colour and tones work well for them but the other two, I think, would look a lot better if the colours were muted to just a hint of colour rather the over-saturation here. These two just don’t benefit from the saturated colour in the same way as one and three.
I can see where Joseph is coming from with his comment about where the use of these photos would slot in. Could you see them as part of an exhibition or portfolio? Possibly, I don’t know. The over saturation effects how these photos fit in to a category and the high colour leans more towards a commercial usage. SUbjectivity comes in to play on this one.David
I’m not a fuddy duddy like Joseph but there a lot of people would have descriptions for me which I wouldn’t commit to writing here :)
piusno1MemberThanks for the reply’s lads , I am the first to admit that they are over done a little, but to show these rooms as I saw them would not have done the colours justice, its amazing what a bit of levels, satur/contrast adjustment does to a shot like these it does give the colours an unreal effect but thats what I wanted.
Would these work as well as a Black/white set ?
ps I wasn’t sure which section to put them so settled for this one. (and I like to stir the pot fair play to ye for commenting )Thanks for looking Joe.
