I love that you can really get a feel for how big that rock is in comparison to the deer. :) As for equipment, in the long run a telephoto lens is going to help you out – on the other hand sometimes it’s nice to step back a bit. I think the composition is fine, I think the shots are a bit underexposed and the sky is a bit flat – photoshop can fix all of that. Anyway – I reckon a quick adjustment in PS, print them big and you’ve got two pretty decent shots. :)
