Deer on Camaderry Mountain

Some Deer on Camaderry Mountain. One Stag in particular stood its ground and actually moved towards me tossing ferns and grass up in the air.

These are great Mikka, the first shot is an excellent capture. I’m so jealous, I look forward to this time of year for the deer rut. Unfortunately I won’t get a chance to see it this year. There’s no sound like the roar of stag during the rut, pure magical.

In the 1st image, I’d be tempted to crop out the 2nd deer, to isolate the main subject.
Lovely shots both I am going to Killarney tomorrow photographing the red deer down there really looking forward to it. Question for you how do you find the 300 f4 at f4 I use one and find that mine isn’t perhaps as sharp as one would like at f4 but around 5.6 to 7 its sharp as a tack. Is that just my copy or is it a characteristic of the lens.

John (snaphappy) I can’t remember if I have used the lens wide open, nearly always have it at f5.6 must try it and will let you know.
