Is that the Atlantic Drive on Achill ?

Been there many times, but it looks more spectacular than ever in your shot.

Right first time Kevin so you know how high those cliffs are and i was soaked, my camera needs a very good clean and my car is white with salt.

It was absolutley amazing i couldnt leave the place, i only came home cause the light had gone at 4pm.

Maybe a better idea of this one http://www.taraphotography.net/gallery/v/Achill+Island/IMG_6928-01.jpg.html

Tara judging from these photo’s it was well worth the soaking. They’re very good indeed. I can just feel the wind, spray and cold. Great atmosphere, dramatic and I love the almost B&W feel to it all.

    Hi Tara,

Really dramatic shots. You can feel the storm in the first oneit is quite busy (like the wind and spray) so well captured. I must say though I prefer the second shot and liked it before you actually posted it here. I saw it in your gallery while looking at the first one and the second for me is equally as dramatic but holds a bit more interest.
Well done you mad woman, putting your good camera at risk like that. Only kidding you are lucky you only got away with a salty car and a soaking yourself can’t say i’d be able to hold myself still enough let alone the camera to get a shot like these in weather like that. How did you manage not to get camera shake let alone hold onto it?

They are nice shots but I dont think worth going out near the rocks and sea in the storms we had. The second shot gives me the shivers for the people who have to go out and risk their own lives searching for others who choose to act foolishly.

I knew beforehand that it was a Westerly to South Westerly Storm, so i knew the wind would be blowing on to the shore and not out to sea. If the wind was blowing out to sea then i would never have gotten out of the car.

Even so it was very dangerous and if you were washed into the sea there it would be a zero survivabilty event so not really the best thing to do.

Those people were stupid and the dog could easily have been picked up and blown away.

As regards camera shake, if you go out in a storm you have split second lulls in the wind, though 90% of my shots ( around 80 ) are not worth using because of shake.

My advice is knock it down to iso 400 and never go above f11 and you will get some ones you can use

very nice Tara, powerful image and crazy for going out in that weather :). I think if you brought the white point in on the image it would give it a bit more impact. Love the tone.

Ahhhhhh!!! See Tara you weren’t such an Idiot as you call yourself you had it well sussed before you went taking you shots. Fair play to you. One thing I’m terriied of is my other half taking an interest in photographing LIGHTHOUSES. I can see him absailing down a cliff face to get shots as dramatic as your ones and I would be just a basket case. Again excellent shots.
