These are from last summer. I dont often see clouds like these and its always down that direction. That camper van was doing the same as us stopping every few metres for a look around.

No2 would be a great advertising image for campers in ireland! very beautiful series Wesley. The mist on the mountains (happens very often in kerry) creates always a fairytale mood. Probably I took a picture the same day in the morning? http://www.photoshelter.com/c/madeleineweber/image/I0000fa7gAllZWK0

    Thanks Madeleine,
I see what you mean about no2. Someone went to a lot of trouble to build a house facing nice views but a camper van can just come along and stop there too if they want. June 1st 2008 this was taken. I imagine that the mist could easily linger there for the night before getting burned off next day. Yours even seems to come down to about the same point.

    Thanks

I think the second would be the pick here-
saying that, I think I might have expected more-

I like the little reflection, but there isn’t enough there-
I don’t like the van, the house would have been enough-
don’t know how long it was parked there either-

But the main observation, I suppose, would be the sharpening, at least at this scale, in the first-
it looks like two different pictures-

the cloud rolling over the hill is the interesting thing for me, very, well, atmospheric-
but the rocks (and the house) have an almost metallic sharpness which seems to be at odds with the rest of the scene-

    The layering of the rocks in the first;
that big one in the foreground, getting above it a little to show more water might have been an option?
I suppose I might be looking at something between the first two pictures?

Sorry, shouldn’t really comment on landscapes,
    don’t know enough about them-

Nuner 2 is an excellent phot and worthy of a pic of month nomination, Love the sense of perspective that the campervan gives the shot

    Thanks Brian, RAS, jb7,

jb7: I thought the same about the reflection, I would like one with more of it. More water to replace the bit I cropped off the sky. Hindsight is great. I see what you mean about 2 different pictures in the first. Although I like the layered effect the image has, I might try a bit more contrast under the clouds to see if it brings the image together more. Regarding sharpness, I know I will have to be careful about not making too much of the lichens on the rocks when I sharpen this for printing. I dont want them to pop out.

    Thanks for the opinions.
