Difference between an Octagonla Softbox and Rectangular

I have a large softbox, 90cm x 120cm. I have used it for a year now. Great light, but I feel its too big for my needs. I am looking at selling it and replacing it with 2 smaller softboxes. I see an 80cm Octagonal one for sale but I was wondering what is the difference if any between the light from a rectangular one versus an octagonal one.

I wouldn’t have thought there would be any difference with the amount of
light, just maybe different shaped catch Lights?

you are probably right Jenny. i have both altough in different sizes so i mainly change depending on what size i want. apart from a nicer catchlight for portraiture, the quality of light is the same.
