Different shots of people.

Hi, I’m new here and thought I’d post some recent pics I took and see if anybody thinks they’re any use. The first is shot with a D40 and the others on an Olympus SP510UZ. I now use a D80 but have no real shots of people with the D80 yet except the last one but I think the guy is too out of focus.

I’m finding it really hard to get up close and shoot strangers. Over the past while I’m trying to become a little more confident. How do you guys go about it?

I think, the last one is great. Not the usual street photo you see around.

I like the last one , super movement. As has been said, unusual.

I’m only new to taking street type shots with people (since August). Two things i have used to get confidence is to go to the Irish Fairs e.g. Balinasloe Horse fair, Puck Fair, Steam Fair etc etc. There are lots of other photographers at these fairs and people don’t mind as much getting there pics taken (normally to busy to notice), i found it great for building confidence. One other thing i found useful at the start was to use a long lens like a 70-200 to get in close from 10 to 50 feet away (after a while you will start using normal and wide lenses). Confidence comes with time and getting out there and doing it

Hi there, it takes a certain confidence to get out there with your camera among the public, well done you. I like the colours in the third one but the movement in the last one is class. Keep clicking :-)
