Jobo 40GB for ?179hmmmm… not bad, though it seems I can get the 80Gb version for that price in Germany.
Anybody ever hear of the Vosonicunits?
PixelleMemberWith radio – nice.
Some of these have screens but they don’t always show photos.kombizzParticipantFor downloading files I would go for JOBO giga vu pro.
http://www.jobo.com/jobo_digital/giga_vu_pro_evolution/gb/
It has the following features:
High Capacity Hard Drive Options: 40-120 GB
Store more than 40,000 photos
Store more than 20,000 songs
Store more than 100 hours of videoor
Epson P-5000

I bought a 100GB one to bring to Canada with me as I was traveling around for 8 months and didn’t want to haul a laptop.
Not only does this little amazing box have a loooong battery life (I charged it once over 8 months) but it also has an anti-corrupt measure built in. Ie. if it hits a corrupted file or one that won’t copy properly if simply skips over it and all the rest of your images are copied perfectly and nothing is lost!I ordered mine online and it arrived very quickly and the postage was reasonable.
They are very affordable, connect to any Mac or PC I happened upon across my travels and transfer a 2GB Compact Flash card very quickly. They also take almost all other types of cards, I just use compact flash. You can label folders so you can find your images easily too.
AND you can use them as a standard portable hard drive for whatever else you want!
Also I see that since I bought mine they have released one with a colour screen on which you can review your images (mine is the older model – the HyperDrive Space… I bought it a year ago.)
Anyway I swear I don’t work for these guys! but I did do a lot of research before I bought anything and I couldn’t be happier that I got this one.

KeithJonesParticipantI’ve been considering one of these storage thingies for a while.
The only thing is – I’ve been trying to cut down on the weight I carry (yes that too ! – I could lose a few pounds)Until now I’ve been taking an old Nikon FM2 to make QUITE sure I have the picture on film as well as digital.
(I can use the same lenses on both of course) and in the rare case of a really good picture (I reckon I take one like that every couple of years …sometimes !) I get a local internet cafe to write a cd/dvd as well.I think the whole attraction of digital is the light weight of the cameras and to add a laptop (small but very appealing to thieves) and a storage unit would be a bit much for me to carry nowadays.
Hmmm – last week I went to Keukenhof to photograph the tulips…. quite disappointing – my own tulips are much more advanced than the ones in Holland (and they aren’t covered in 4 inches of snow like theirs were !)
If you are planning a trip to Keukenhof leave it a couple of weeks then it will be glorious – there were just a very few beds in flower – the masses you would expect will not be out till the end of the month at least.
I’m not just rambling here – I found the camera outfit (body plus 3 lenses and batteries, filters, flashgun was quite enough to carry. I reckon I walked around 7 Km so cutting down the camera stuff is quite important to me.Keith
gregorParticipantBit late but always some info, I got jobo ultra 80gb however while testing it came up that it would not read some of my CF cards. The drive managed to read other cards however all the files were corrupted. Another disadvantage you can’t actually review your files so I sent it back. Instead I ordered new Vosonic VP5500 100gb which is only slightly more expensive than jobo. I received it two days ago and just tested today, it is great stuff, 3.5 LCD screen allows you to view all your shoots (supports raw files ect.) it also allow you to replace the hard drive in case you need more storage. Another good thing is you can get extra batteries which are probably available in any camera shop. I will fully test it during the weekend, but so far it looks like good alternative to expensive Epson or other products. Hopefully you find this info handy  .
Cheers,
GregorOrange_juiceParticipantTry out one of these guys either, it has a CF card reader slot as well..
They are available on Ebay for £199..
