Disabling Photoshop Web Searches at Startup

One thing that taxes my patience is the way Photoshop CS2 (and probably other versions too) goes off for ages to look for updates via the Internet every time you launch the program. I have heard that you can disable this fairly easily. Can anyone tell me how this is done?

    Thanks in advance.

I don’t know how you can do that but I’m sure there’s some way to do it. The answer might be in Hacking Photoshop CS2 a book which is on my shopping list. Just haven’t bought it yet because I don’t use PSCS2.

One option you could look at is to set your firewall to stop Photoshop from accessing external links – how easy this is depends on your firewall setup but it’s a standard feature of most firewalls.
