Display your work in my restaurant with a view to selling it
-
martinoleary7Participant
I have a restaurant in Dublin city center and I’m looking for photographers who would like to display their work with a view to selling it. I’m not interested in charging any commission. At present I’m displaying art produced by the 4th year students from the National College of art and design. If any photographers are interested PM me. !!
Please note that I’m only interested in displaying work by amature photographers!!IOPParticipantGreat idea Martin. Well done on the initiative! This is the type of thing we need to encourage exhibitors and buyers of photography
Dave
martinoleary7ParticipantThanks for the comment, feel free to spread the word! I’m also not to sure i have the post in the right place. Could you advise!!
Big FellaParticipantGfoxParticipantThis is an absolutely fantastic idea.. Fair play to you. Its refreshing to see someone willing to promote irish photography without the usual bias and red tape.
JodyParticipantfantastic idea indeed. There’s a restaurant close to me I’ve been thinking of approaching for the same thing…
If you’re still looking for people Martin let us know :)andy mcinroyParticipantmartinoleary7 wrote:

By selling their work they are no longer amateur. Would all the photographs have to come down after the first sale?
Andy
martinoleary7ParticipantWell spotted amcinroy and good point, but hopefully everyone gets the idea! I think if we keep within the spirit of this we will be ok! Thanks to the people who pm’d me, I’ve been having a peek at everyones photographs and I’ve come to realize that this will be a whole load of fun!! I will get back to you ASAP. These are the only guidelines i have thought of so far.
Anyone who is interested PM me and I’ll get back to you.
Lets limit it to 3 pictures each person.
I might ask you to email me low res images of your pics
Open to amateur or professionals (pros have to donate 10% of any sales to their chosen charity)
I think images on canvas might be best but thats open to discussion.
As to the style of pictures , I’m not to fussed.Lets see your best.
martinoleary7ParticipantThanks to everybody for their interest. I have enough people interested for the first trial. I’ll post again on a regular basis when i need more people to apply!
Cheers
MarkKeymasterHey Martin,

Thats not true Andy, you would have to receive a substantial portion of your annual income to be considered a professional.
Many people that are considered amateur would sell plenty of prints. Why make it any more complicated than is necessary?
jb7ParticipantSo what happened then?
Where can we grab a bite and wonder at the prints?j
randomwayMemberGo and see for yourself, it’s on Suffolk Street, if you go on Grafton Street towards the city centre, you turn left at the First Active branch and it’s on the left side. It’s called Nude.

I will-Who here has work in it then?
I don’t suppose that anyone has sold anything?
I’m sure we would have heard…j
GfoxParticipantI have three shots in there.. There are some great shots, I was also wondering how else is up there.
Fair play again to Martin for organising this..
