Distance Courses

Could anyone tell me of a distance course that’s actually any good. I’ve looked a good few and they either basic and overpriced, or just basic or just overpriced. I have a reasonable level of knowledge so I’d be interested in something other than the run of the mill stuff that ‘introduces’ you to the ‘exciting” world of photography. Basically I’m looking for something that is a step above amateur but not to professional either.

I know other threads have dealt with courses before and I have read them, but seeing as I don’t live in Dublin I need something a bit more distance friendly.

    Thanks.

I have looked into these courses myself in the past and to be honest I don’t think any of them are much more advanced then the basics, them seem to go alot more into things that are not going to be much use to you in the field, such as the history of cameras, film processing ect.
If you are familiar with using your cameras full controls, in full manual, I don’t think there is much to be gained from these courses for the money it costs, unless you are looking to get the paperwork (diploma most of them offer, which is a FETEC level 6 usually).

My personal opinion, if you already have some decent knowledge in photography then there’s alot more to be gained by picking a certain area in photography you think you are most interested in getting into ( wedding, landscape, portrait ect) and doing on of the 1-2 day courses with what are some of Ireland’s top photographers in their area.
These courses are considerably more in cost, but I think it would be money much better spent.
You will find info of them courses on this site.

Course this is just my opinion but I hope it helps you somewhat.

    Best of Luck.
