Does Fine Art make money

Hi,

Just wondered what peoples thoughts are on this.

Can you make any money out of selling fine art prints?
I talked to some photographers who say that they make little or no money from their fine art prints, especially over the internet.

I would like to give it a go, selling printed and framed images but I’m thinking the internet is not the place to do it.
I wonder are there any other outlets that might be more successful?

exhibitions, craft fairs, galleries, etc

people sell prints at these

i have printed and framed for a good few exhibitions now, and all of them have sold way more images than they thought they would

Hi all,
this is a very interesting question: Iasked the same to myself lots of time. Thinking about a possible, future career in photography, I’m really not interested in weddings, cerimonies, commercial photography and all those kind of things that I think ate the ones most payed into photography… What I’d like, it would be to sell my pictures (of course, once I’ll be good enough to not be ashamed of selling them!), and keep on shooting what i like.
The question is: is it possible to make money (not big money, I don’t care about big money!) from it???

Steve, you talked about exibitions: can you tell me how does it work? I mean, is it something you organize yourself, or someone come to you and ask if you’re interested in an exibition???

In other words: from where to start???
