Dog v. Hare
-
nfl-fanParticipant
One from a Coursing meet in Enniscorthy today.
Poor light, high ISO, fast moving subjects… but personally I like the grittiness of the end result.
guthrijParticipantI like it too. Great the way the dog and the hare are at the same angle. The lean to the right is almost perfectly parallel. The dog’s hind quarters look really powerful and talk about keeping your eye on the “ball”
What has the dog got round his neck? It looks like something the Clancy Brothers might have worn.
Good to see the muzzle.
Cheers, John
pete4130MemberThat totally works for me. I really like it…I keep looking around the image and loving how everythign thats happening in it is so isolated.
Alan RossiterParticipantLike I said earlier on PM I like the image and think the finish suits. If there was one little niggle it would be that if there was a little more space above the dogs tail it would be more comfortable. But as far as C&C goes it flys in the face of normality but does so quite well.

irish147Participantpete4130MemberI didn’t want to say it earlier because I really like this image and didn’t want to criticise it at all, but the tail is a tiny bit offputting. I know you can’t choose where the tail goes when the dog is turning but….heaven forbid…I think I’d clone a wee bit out to give it bit more space so the image would sit a little better
nfl-fanParticipantCheers lads.
This was possibly my favourite of the day. T’was a terrible day (weather and light wise) and I was surprised how far back from the course track we had to be, so none of the shots I got were as good as what I was hoping for.
I did think afterwards about cloning the dog’s tail as it is very tight in the frame, obviously composition went out the window at the time as you just had to grab what was one offer and these guys are fast. I might give it a go later.
John: The thing around the neck is just a white collar to identify the dog. The other competitor wears a red collar and the judge raises white or red to indicate which dog turned the hare first i.e. the winner.
Thanks again.
JphotospecMemberHey there NFL FAN
Great shot, the look of determination on the dogs face makes the image for me. It tells a story in itself. I too, like the gritty feel to the image…. nice one.
