I love midges. They keep all the pesky tourists away !!
I can see the conditions were very challenging here but this image looks a little overdone to me. If you were using HDR then I’d say you need to bracket around a lower exposure value to keep that sun in check.
The blues of the water do contrast beautifully with the reflections of orange. I just think that adding the green into the mix, throws it off a bit.
The flare will always be hard to control in this situation. With some care it can be sometimes be cloned away in post process, although that might be difficult here.
I do like the composition here. Definitely a spot to return to.
