Mick451Participant
Be heading up to Donegal Town in a month or so for a coupla days.
Anyone recommend good spots for landscapey stylee shots – and not the Andy McInroy type where you need to be Spiderman to climb/swing sheer cliff faces. Something more accessible and child friendly would fit the bill nicely.PodgeMemberWe went to Sliabh League on the recent P.I. Donegal trip. The road there is something else – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slieve_League
summerdreamnMemberjust a plug for donegal castle from your friendly neighborhood tour guide/slave. though you’re not allowed to take photographs for “commercial” use. come say hi anyway :)
SteveDParticipantMick, I think you might enjoy St. Johns Point. There are a few nice little beaches for the family to play about on while you go off and explore. I think you could spend a good few hours there, if not an entire afternoon. Here is a photo to tempt you…
I believe it is marked on Google Maps as ‘Killultan,’ and is about 15 miles from Donegal town.
Let me know how you get on.
Mick451ParticipantExcellent, thanks everyone, they all look good to me.
I’m a bit wary of cliffs and mad as a hatter 3 year olds being near them, but I’ll see if I can skive off for a few hours.
He loves castles, thinks dragons live in them so that’s definitely one for the books.
St John’s will be on the cards too, just hope I come back with something remotely as good as that Steve.Brian_CParticipantDoagh Island, Fanad Lighthouse or pretty much anywhere on the the west coast donegal.
cathaldParticipantGlenveigh national park is a great place and lots to keep the kids interested
have not been up there in quite a few years but hope to get there this year

Madra RuaParticipantCheck out Doon Fort near Ardara.
It’s a cool ringfort in the middle of a lough.
There used to be a gentleman living next to the lough who rented out rowing boats. It’s on my list of places to go back to – with a camera.
summerdreamnMemberoh, and speaking of ardara, maghera strand is a must see though it’s just endless sand dunes and turquoise water ;)

summerdream, is that the place where you can access a fabulous cave when the tide is out?Mick451ParticipantBrilliant, thanks for all those.
Hope we get some blue skies on beach days like in your shots, SummerD.summerdreamnMemberi’ve been to maghera a few times and there are caves there but i’ve never found them :( (ie not adventurous enough or its always high tide!)
