The start is a HDR photograph consisting of 5 exposures in one stop increments.
After that I loaded it into photoshop and added all the stamps and layers.
All this because I love the ‘old’ atmosphere of Ireland and want to convey it in my photograph.
Also what I like to do is put a layered structure into the photos, like the stamp of the cellotape in the corner.
A fine scene but to be honest I just dont get the processing you took what I am sure started out as a fine landscape study and then obscured and deconstructed what made it a good image in the first place. I know that photography and indeed the treatments used in postprocessing are subjective and this is only one mans opinion but I do think that any textures or filters applied should sympathetic to the image and work to improve it ……
John’s correct about the original – certainly the composition. The PP prevents understanding how well performed the rest was – but that is not a criticism, merely an observation.
If there is a style that appeals to you, you should experiment with it until it works for you. It might not appeal to others.
In terms of what you have achieved with regard to what you set out to do, the cellotape mark is so true of old pictures! as is the coffee mark/blistering on the right. I find the “spills” in the middle of the image a bit distracting.
