Doolin Sunset
-
neilmcshaneParticipant
After a long time away I’am back.
This is a sunset from Doolin Co. Clare
C&C Welcome.
Alan RossiterParticipantLooks like you’re back with a bang. This is something else!! Excellent photo and nicely timed.
The colours really set the image and the could frame the set so well.
Nice one.
Alan.
MartinParticipantVery nice capture Neil. Very natural looking which is something I like in a good quality sun set and sunrise picture. Only thing i can suggest is that i would have framed this differently. I will PM you an edited version hope you don’t mind as i see you do not like people to edit your pictures but its the only way i can get my opinion across to you
Cheers and well done. Hope you start posting more again
MartinRobMemberI like it, though I feel you’ve got more foreground than you
actually need here. The seaweed doesn’t add a lot of interest
and I can imagine a better crop might be to have the water’s
edge leading out from the bottom left corner. It may just be
this laptop (not my own) that I’m using, but I think the overall
image needs a little more punch or contrast to give it a little
more oomph.Rob.
jb7ParticipantNot often I find myself disagreeing with Rob,
but the one thing that worries me is the bulge under the headland-
Could be an illusion though-Lovely capture-

bethParticipantbeautiful colors, i love the way you captured the sun peaking through the clouds. the reflection of the cloud on the beach is gorgeous, the clouds in the sky are great, but i really love the reflection of them. nice work.
bethDenverDollParticipantThis is beautiful.
I liked best also that is looks very natural. The colors are gorgeous and sharp and the reflection is the sand just glows.
It makes you almost feel like you are there.I love Doolin. Now I wish I were there
Sharon
andy mcinroyParticipantExcellent image.
I love the warmth of the RHS in contrast to the darker LHS. The sun draws across the frame very well.
Well done controlling the contrast too. Not easy. But you’ve got it just right.
One word of warning. Your image size in getting into the realms of possible printing resolution. You’d be surprised at the quality of print I could make from this size of web image with some careful interpolation and resharpening.

Wot, NO black and white Neil?
thats a shame, this would make a stunning b&w.
bethneilmcshaneParticipantBe Patient gentlemen, the B&W’s are coming.
Thanks for the comments.
JB7 : Yes it is an illusion. The horizon is level but there is another headland below the sunset with a lighthouse on it.
Andy : Should i drop the size down to under 800 pix width instead.
Rob & Martin : I tryed that crop but i just liked this one better with the position of the horzion.Doolin is a wounderful place, but if any of you go there you might find pieces of my camera and lens RIP.
More to follow.
Regards Neil
SANCHOMemberAurora_esParticipantMatt HarperParticipantvery nice, just seems alittle dark to me. could be my monitor though. Good use of foreground interest and depth. Would of been tempered to try a slightly longer exposure
Matt.
RavenAshMemberTimed the shot well Neil. Super Shot.
Like the way the cloud gets wider as you go from right to left.
