Haven’t posted a picture I think in over a year, so thought I would post up my most recent effort.
Would be interesting to know what you digital photographers think of lith prints.
Lith is a traditional darkroom process used to make colourfull gritty looking prints from negatives
Taken on the Rolleiflex camera using Kodak tmax 400 film. Paper is Fomatone mg classic 532 in Rollei lith developer
looks like an interesting technique, I’ve never tried it (though I’m not a digi-head!) i take it the colour tint is a property of the process rather than being toned?
the building looks like it would be fascinating to have a look inside!
Thanks for the comment Isabella. yes the colour is part of the process. The colour comes from the paper. Different papers give different colours in lith developers. Its a very enjoyable technique, you should try it if you have access to a darkroom. Yes it would have been very enjoyable to have a look inside. Trastevere is a lovely spot, so much to see
Not any paper but most warmtone papers do work, both fiber and resin.
Ilfords MGWT paper will lith but is very slow, the best papers for starting with are the Fomatone papers I think.
Gunns camera shop have the lith developer or http://www.thephotoshop.ie sell it
If you do try it have fun, feel free to ask me any questions
