Still trying to get the hang of flash and macro.
I much prefer macro with natural light but alot of light is required to close down the aperture sufficiently most of the time.
This guy had fantastic colour but unfortunately I couldn’t do him justice.
Wow, what a cool little fella. Amazing colours. I’m guessing by the shadow that you are not using a ring-flash, a polariser might also help to reduce some of the reflections specific to this image?
Where did you find this guy?
Thanks! I found him in a small wooded area near Crossdoney, Co,Cavan. I was using a handheld 580 flash with off camera cord. He was moving around fairly quickly so it was a bit awkward to alter my set up quickly and get a steady shot. I guess I need to invest in some dedicated macro gear for macro on the move. I never seen one before but apparently they are not uncommon. Thanks for the polariser tip, I never would have thought of that for macro situations. Cheers, Ciaran.
