Davey Stewart in training at Moneyscalp forest, Co. Down. I was down last weekend to scope out some more angles. This is more of an environmental shot, with a bit more context. I love to show the trail, and the beauty of being in the forest in the mountains.
Nice action shot, you can see where he’s come from and where he’s going, the lean over was captured nicely and the red top stands out against the greens.
Very nice.

Cheers lousy – He has this great red top. I made sure he wore it. Red always looks good in the forest.
Thanks Paul – I wasn’t trying to capture him in the air. But the riders sort of float over the rough stuff – as though the bike is weightless – and I was lucky enough to be able to show that here.
Pixelle – I shot this with a 50mm lens. Which isn’t very long! Fortunately Dave is a good rider – I was pretty sure he wasn’t get too out of shape over this section! I had to duck out of the way pretty quickly. But he didn’t seem to mind when he saw the photos. In a race, with less co-operative riders, I’d be keeping well out of their way. But as it was, he was well up for a little creative sacrifice!
v4honda – This one isn’t fake, I assure you! Though I can see where you’re coming from. It does look like he’s floating in space. But its because he is skimming over the bumps. There is also a little flash added at about 45 degrees camera left. Which separates him from the background – and perhaps makes him look pasted in.
