I think I’m Getting the hang of this.
Took this one today with my 70-300mm 225mm and a focal length approx. 5ft.
    F5.6, ISO200, 1/320sec. Bright and breezy.
    C&C always Welcome.

This is the same fly at differant locations.

    Number three is great.

The other two are good but I guess its best to go for a head shot alone or full body, although number 1 works ok, its composed well, but it does look a bit grainy. In number 2 a bit more depth of field would be good, I think, the body chop does work so well here for me.

But, as they say, number 3 would make a great print.

Thamks for your comments Martin and mick. I was uncertaiin about choppping the body and thought that maybe I could get away with it and show a little more detail by paing closer attn. to ate composition. Live and Learn, that’s what we are here for. I do have quite a few pics of this guy that I think would look good large without chopping the body. the trick will be picking couple to print 12×20 for my about to be born grandsons room. His Mom wants some dragon flies. #3 nay be ome of them.

    Thank you Dave and Deebo,
I was suprized by the results on quite a few of these. It was breezy and I had a hard time keeping him in my viewfinger long enough to focus, then waiting for him to blow back into range.

#3 is wonderful. He looks like he’s going to sing a song almost :D Loads of personality anyways.

The sharpness and clarity are awesome.

    Hi Jim
The light looky pretty harsh in the first one. Although nothing much you could do about that under a strong sun. The second one is nice.
