Dreamy or Mono

Hi Brian, Simple and uncomplicated, I like them both, but just leaning preferentially towards the colour. Mike
irishshaguaParticipantAlan RossiterParticipantGiven a preference between the two I’d pick the colour but I’d probably pick the B&W if it wasn’t for that very harsh light circle/vignette type thingy that’s going on. It doesn’t work for me at all.
I don’t know where this was taken or what’s around you but a few steps to the left and back a few steps and a bit lower and this would have been a nice bench hugged by a tree that looks to be leaning to the right as you look at it. At the moment they seem to be competing for space on the left side of the image.
Alan.
irishshaguaParticipantCheers for looking Wonka. Probably messing too much with the mono one. I have a habit of doing that.
I am happy with the composition of them though. It was something that was in my head when I seen the scene and it came out fairly close to what I wanted. If I’m back there again though I’ll have a jab at what you were suggestiing. But for what I was trying to capture, I wanted the two things (tree and bench) to be apart from each other.
Probably doesn’t come across well but I like it. Will definitely hacve to have another go at the mono version.
Cheers for looking
BrianplainoldmeMemberAnother vote for the colour. the vignette thing just doesnt suit the kind of shot, and the scratch effect would be better if it was more subtle as it looks more than a bit over done.
I happen to like the composition of the photo, if it counts. :)
irishshaguaParticipantAlright so I was messing too much with the original mono version. I went very basic here. C&C appreciated
I personally think it looks better and am happy wnough with it but would still like to hear others opinions.
Brian
RavenAshMemberLike the colour version.
The B&W looks good here, but I would slightly bring the whiteness down on the bench.astroshotParticipantthe latest bnw version is much better than the original. Colour isn’t bad – simple and uncomplicated.
Would it be worth trying sepia??irishshaguaParticipantCheers for looking.
Raven. I wanted to have a real contrast between the two subjects in the image. So the bright White of the bench and then the dark of the tree against the bright sky background. Maybe overdid it a bit but I wanted to really hammer home that contrast thing.
Astro The original mono was in sepia but this time around I wanted to go with a pure black and White contrast effect.
as Thorsten would say maybe I’m using words to hide a bad image but I appreciate the advice that I receive from you’re and I will have another play with.
Cheers
Brian
