Super shot Sharon.
The sunlight reflection at the top really drawns you in.
Nice mirror affect also in the water. :)DenverDollParticipantHey thanks Ravenash!
I have had a few people suggest a crop that I think I’ll go with.
This really was about the colors for me.Glad you like it!!
Shar
DedalusParticipantI’ve looked at this picture a few times and it has a really tranquill and claming effect, I think it’s spot on and wouldn’t change it
DenverDollParticipantThank you Dedalus!
I am really on the fence now.
Thanks for your opinion in favour of keeping it as is.
Thanks also for your comment..it’s nice to know when someone returns to see a photo more than once :D
Shar
Alan RossiterParticipantWell, I like it but you know my views on it – flip it and frame it!
Alan.
Then again, I’m mad, eh?
RobMemberHmm don’t know about flipping it. I’ve also returned to it several
times. Beautiful colours Doll, and wonderfully sharp. I think what’s
throwing me a little is the contrast between the perfect symmetry of
the reflection and its somewhat random positioning in the frame. There
is most definitely a picture there, possibly more than one depending on
the various crops available, only I can’t tell what your best option is.
Do remember to post up whatever you finally decide on…Rob.
DenverDollParticipantWonkalan~~~yep..you are mad as a hatter..but after seeing your fabulous photo of Cil Ghobnait..in the landscape thread…and which you know I think is class…I am so impressed with how good your stuff is getting lately…I am tempted to take your word as gospel
Rob~~~thanks a mil…I really really like this shot myself, but it’s one that I just can’t figure out for myself either. Most times, you know my style, I post things here that I think have potential..and am always eager for anyone to jump in and push it a bit further for me. I’ll keep working on it!
jb7ParticipantI’ve been back a few times too-
Obviously I don’t know about where you could have stood to take it-
but moving a little to the right might have removed that dark clump in the corner,
leaving only those lovely colourful reflections-With photographs of objects,
I find that the background assumes a huge level of importance-
and in this case,
it could be argued that the reflection is the subject,
interrupted by the silhouette of the driftwood-And I don’t understand the flipping thing anyway-
not for a standalone picture-
Some people assume that its necessary to do it for a page layout;
if there’s text in the picture, I always assume that the layout artist is illiterate-
If its a picture of a person,
then the asymmetry of a face can render that person just a little bit odd looking,
if you already know what they look like the right way around-I can’t stop people flipping pictures-
its just that I can’t understand why they’d want to, the vast majority of the time-So, well spotted, worth the shot, but spoiled a little by the top right corner, for me-
j
Alan RossiterParticipantThanks Sharon. I’m humbled! :D Still love the colours in this one.
Joseph – I mentioned to Sharon to flip the photo…but upside down and add a frame with a title. The reason being that when shown the title dictates the orientation but the mind doesn’t grasp that the image has been flipped. The facial expressions on people who see the printed version can be comical trying to work out what is going on. There’s no justification for a left/right flip in this one. I’d agree in general regarding flipping too – it’s hardly worth it in most cases.
Alan.
jb7ParticipantAh- a Wonka flip-
I bow to your superior insanity,
and am likewise humbled by my unforgivably pedestrian interpretation-‘flip’ is a word that pushes some buttons for me, obviously-
Mea Culpa-
j
DenverDollParticipantYou two behave~~~~~
dang this place cracks me up
Thanks ya’ll
