    Hi Breandain.
I got a drop-in polarising filter from Canon (for 300mm) some time back. Not sure of the size though as I’ve sold it on since. Sort of expensive, but worked fine.

Thanks for that mikiG :) I am looking for one for my Sigma 300mm and from what you say it seems that they may be specialist and obtained from the lens manufacturers. It seems there are a few screws that need to be unscrewed and then you put it in but I woould rather not touch them until I have a filter to put in!!! Will ask in Gunns do they have one…

The Canon one comes with a filter holder attatched to the filter with two push buttons to release the existing holder. It also has a little tumbwheel for adjusting the amount of polarisation used while the filter is fitted to the lens, thus avoiding the need to remove the holder from the lens when in use.

Yeah I am not sure if there is a filter holder for the Sigma one. Think it is just a filter and you put it in that way. Had a look in Conns yesterday but it was black so couldnt ask anybody but was looking at their filter cabinet and didnt see anything that was 46mm! Think I will be searching a bit on this one!! Yeah the Sigma one also has a Thumbwheel that you can adjust the polariser with…just need to get one first!!
